Fairhill/MLK Green Infrastructure - Emergency Retrofit

E&S Services with the help of Environmental Design Group had a mission to help delay the erosion of the base of a retention wall on this particular site. We took an abundance of sandstone boulders that were used for the construction of a splash pool in the fall out area and created decorative check dams to slow the flow of the water down and make for a very unique and artsy urban design while doing so. We also mortared the base of the wall as a temporary fix to keep water from undercutting the base while the sewer district comes up with the permanent fix to an existing problem. This project also included removing trees, installing grates, cleaning out the HDPE pipes, and some basic landscaping. Overall everyone was very happy with the quick response time to keep this site from failing while designers work on the next steps in a permanent retrofit.
